Water Works
New paintings by local artist Penny Otwell focus on the relevance of water in its many forms. Waterfalls, rivers, creeks, flooded meadows are all subjects for this show of spring. Some work has been done en plein air in the lower Merced River Canyon and shares the wildflower bloom in April and May. Most of the paintings are plein air but a few were done this past winter in the studio from the artists drawings and color sketches.
Sierra Foothill Conservancy Location: information to come Event Dates: 10/1/2010 - 11/1/2010
About fifteen plein air painters from California are painting the foothill lands belonging to the Sierra Foothill Conservancy. These parcels are set aside for all time and allow open space between land that is owned. Oil, pastel, and watercolor painters are working outdoors for the October show. Penny Otwell is one of the local artists who will show their work from the year-long event.
March 13-14 (Sat.-Sun) is an opportunity to see Otwell painting with the others at the McKenzie Preserve. Check the SFC website for more info.
